Bearing Assembly
Tech Tips:
To grease, or not
to grease?
A
2-row ball bearing is used in Yetter residue managers along with
some coulter and closing wheel assemblies. This durable
bearing comes sealed from the manufacturer.
To
grease, or not to grease? We get asked this question quite
often from customers. It is our experience that greased
bearings last longer under normal field operating conditions,
compared to sealed bearings.
To
grease the Yetter bearing assembly, pry off the inner seal with a
small screw driver, or awl, and discard.
During
the final assembly of the Yetter product, make sure that grease
filling holes align in all components. See owner's manual for
more details.

The outer seal of bearing hub assembly has a reverse-lip that allows
grease to escape and not let contaminates enter. We recommend
pumping grease in bearing assembly until clean grease exits between
the outer seal and bearing insert. This ensures that clean
grease is inside the bearing assembly. Also, grease is
available for lubrication of the outer seal as it turns on bearing
insert. Lubrication helps prevent grooving of the bearing
insert which can lead to the entry of contaminates.
